Benefits of Exercise

At long last, both, the medical profession and the government are advocating Regular Physical Exercise as a means to a healthier, happier and more fulfilled life. It is evident that the English Nation is following it's American cousins in getting ever more sedentary and bigger. The obesity figure is rising and even 8% of all four year old children in this country are already obese while 20% are overweight! This will not only decrease their life expectancy considerably but obesity is also a huge drain on the NHS. However, this need not be the case if you become more active, and As a YMCA Personal Trainer I will help you all the way! Contact me here
Aerobic training coupled with resistance training helps you stay slim and healthy
To gain health benefits you don't have to turn into a "20 hour per week gym goer". All you have to do to improve your health is 30 minutes of moderate physical exercise five times per week. This does not have to be formal exercise and you can split the 30 minutes into three 10 minute sessions or two 15 minute sessions. Everyone has enough time to do this! Just walk to the post box or get your Sunday paper by walking to the shops rather than driving. Park the car further away from the shops. Walk the children to school: it's good for you and for them! Mow the lawn and clean the windows yourself or wash your car.

The Benefits of Regular Physical Exercise are almost endless. Regular Physical Exercise will: -

lower LDL (low density lipoprotein - the "bad one"), increase HDL (high density lipoprotein - the "good one"), it will lower Hypertension, improve the
Cardiovascular System and it will lower the risk of a Stroke.

Regular physical exercise lowers the Resting Heart Rate so the heart has less work to do, it lowers Stress, helps to control Diabetes Mellitus II (adult onset diabetes), it improves the Oxygen Uptake by all the inner organs, it helps control Obesity and it may lower the risk of some Cancers, and in particular Bowel Cancer.

Because of the pull of the muscles on the bones regular physical exercise lowers the risk of
Osteoporosis which is particularly important for women who are past the Menopause, it improves muscular strength and muscular endurance, it helps you prevent Injury as you become more competent in your movements, it aids recovery from Injury and it improves Body Awareness. And it improves your Flexibility through Stretching.

Being physically active on a regular basis lifts Depression because Endorphin levels rise (the body's own "feel-good hormones"), it improves Anxiety and mental and physical Alertness, it promotes healthy Sleep and widens the Social Circle.
But perhaps most important of all: Regular physical activity can push back the barriers of Biological Aging by as much as 20 years!!! Just imagine looking and feeling like a 30 year old when, in fact, you are 50. Now, I can’t think of any better incentive to exercise on a regular basis!

So, don't delay: ask your YMCA Personal Trainer for advice. Many of
my Clients feel better for it already!!
