Usually a Fitness Assessment forms the first session of an ongoing one-to-one training with your Fitness Professional. Contact me here. The fitness assessment is a very important tool and it is as much for your own benefit and understanding of your health and fitness level as it is for the Fitness Instructor to be able to devise an exercise programme which is tailored to your very own specific goals and needs.
A thorough fitness assessment, which will be conducted in private and with the greatest sensitivity in accordance with the latest findings of the health and fitness industry, is especially important if you should suffer with any health related problems like High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Lower Back Pain, Knee or other Joint Problems, are an Older Adult or are new to exercise or if you return to exercise after a lay-off.
A fitness assessment will typically take about one hour in which you will start by filling in a detailed health questionnaire. We will then discuss all the points arising. After this vital data like Blood Pressure (BP), Resting Heart Rate (RHR), Height, Weight, Body fat %, Flexibility, Lung Capacity etc. will be established. Based on the findings we will then discuss and agree upon an exercise programme which will of course take your likes and dislikes into account. In extreme circumstances it may be necessary that you need your doctor’s approval to exercise. For this purpose but also for your own reference you will receive a detailed report about the collected data and about the outcome of the fitness assessment.
As you would expect from a YMCA qualified Personal Trainer who is also qualified in GP Referral Exercises (Gayton Group GP Exercise Referral Certificate) I have helped many clients to achieve their personal best and, often, to be pain free again sometimes after years of suffering. Their comments are here.
It is also an important part of the fitness assessment to establish any need for Nutritional Advice whether you want to lose or gain weight. I will advise you on good food choices and teach you about nutrition so that you can make the right choices to suit your specific needs.
