Gym Instructor

The YMCA Gym Instructor Award forms a small part of the training as a YMCA Personal Trainer. A YMCA Gym Instructor will have extensive knowledge about the body’s anatomy, the skeleton, muscle origins and insertions, which joints they cross, tendons, ligaments and much, much more. As a YMCA Gym Instructor I have a vast knowledge of different exercises to prescribe for both a Cardiovascular Workout as well as a Resistance Workout for Muscular Strength or Muscular Endurance Training. I demonstrate and take you through each exercise

The YMCA Gym Instructor will also know about the recommended frequency of fitness training, including the government guidelines, i.e. you should do resistance training twice per week of 8 to 12 repetitions for 8 to 10 different muscle groups.
To improve cardiovascular fitness you should aim to work out 5 times per week for 30 minutes to an increased heart rate. It is possible to split the 30 minute sessions into chunks of 2 times 15 minutes or even 3 times 10 minutes as long as the heart rate is elevated when exercising.
Regular cardiovascular training is thought to lower High Blood Pressure and High Blood Cholesterol. It may also have a positive effect on anyone suffering with Diabetes Mellitus II.

A YMCA Gym Instructor will make absolutely sure that you perform all exercises correctly and , therefore, safely. Contact me

Before I qualified as a YMCA Personal Trainer I worked as a YMCA Gym Instructor in different gyms where I gained valuable experience and I have helped numerous clients to achieve their personal best in using gym based cardiovascular and resistance machines. I have also dealt with different injuries and illnesses of clients and, through the exercise I have prescribed, my clients had an excellent recovery rate. The most common complaint I dealt with was Lower Back Pain and there isn't one of my clients to date who’s back hasn't improved dramatically through the programme I've prescribed! View their Comments

As a private YMCA qualified Personal Trainer I help my clients succeed by taking my own equipment to my clients' house where they work out.
As a Fitness Professional and a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals (REP) I am bound to work to the highest standards ensuring that your personal programme is tailor made to address all your specific needs. Whether you are young and already fairly fit or an older adult or perhaps suffering with Back Pain or Joint Problems, rest assured that you will train with one of the best. And the good news is that you can exercise in the comfort of your own home!
