Nutrition

In today's fast track approach to life it is very easy to forget about a well balanced diet and the fact that Food is there for a single reason: to provide our body with enough energy to keep us alive and to perform the daily tasks. We don't need any more than that, just enough fuel in the form of food to function properly.

However, most of us don't have the time to think about good nutrition and opt for easy ready prepared meals instead. This is definitely time saving but the problem is that most ready made meals are usually high in fat which will lead to an unwanted increase in body weight, especially Body Fat.

Rather than snacking on delicious fruit or vegetables we often chose snacks which are high in Simple Carbohydrates (Sugars) like cakes, chocolate, crisps etc. This will lead to a surge in Blood Sugar levels but, equally quickly, the Blood Sugar level will plummet again. You will feel hungry and peckish and opt for the next quick fix of Simple Carbohydrates again.

This habit together with a high intake of dietary fat and a lack of
regular physical exercise is to blame for an increase in body weight. This may also lead to High Blood Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure, Diabetes Mellitus II and even certain forms of Cancer.

But it is not good enough to just cut back on your total food intake as your body needs a well balanced diet to stay healthy. The government recommendation is to consume a diet where 60% of the overall calorific intake derives from Complex Carbohydrates, 30% from Fat and 10% from Proteins. On top of that you should eat at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables per day and drink plenty of water.

If you want to lose weight than be warned: quick fix low calorie or other diets never work long term, they only lead to yo-yo dieting and the end result is usually that you will put on weight over the years. Read clients comments
