Register of Exercise Professionals


The aim of the Register of Exercise Professionals is it to create a framework in which each individual Fitness Instructor can achieve the highest standards of professionalism which is linked to the best practice in the health and fitness industry. It is a self-regulating system for all instructors, coaches and teachers involved in teaching or supervising people who exercise.
Entry to the REP is by qualification and all members must undertake some continuing professional development in order to keep their knowledge, skills and professionalism up to date.

As a member of Level 3, the highest level of the Register of Exercise Professionals, I am not only a fully qualified YMCA Personal Trainer
contact but I am also qualified in GP Exercise Referrals, I hold a current CPR Certificate (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) which forms part of the 1st Aid at Work Certificate, I have £2,000,000 public liability insurance with FITPRO and I adhere to the accepted code of ethical practice which reflects the core values of rights of, relationships with and personal responsibilities for others as well as professional high standards. In being a member of the REP I accept my responsibility to my clients, other Fitness Professionals, to professional bodies and institutes.

The right of the client is to be recognized as an individual and to be treated with dignity. The client has the right to self-determination and to confer with other professionals.

The relationship between client and Fitness Professional must be based on mutual trust, openness, honesty and respect for each other. The Personal Trainer will promote the welfare of the client and encourage him to take responsibility for his own training behavior and activity.

My responsibilities to my clients is for me to demonstrate proper personal behavior and conduct, show respect, dignity and professionalism and be honest, fair and considerate at all times.

I will uphold my Professional Standards by being committed to ongoing training. I promote the execution of safe and effective exercises. I accept full responsibility for my actions when advising clients and I recognize when it is appropriate to refer my clients to other professionals. I'm always happy to Receive
